NotebookLM Gets a New Name and a Bigger Role
Google just rebranded NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook, and honestly it tells us a lot about where Google thinks AI tools are headed.
So Google did the thing where they rename a product you already liked. NotebookLM is now called Gemini Notebook, and I have... feelings about this.
First, the practical stuff. The app itself is not going away. It stays as a standalone tool, which is actually a relief. I half-expected Google to just absorb it into the main Gemini app and call it a day. Instead, they're threading it more tightly into Gemini and Google Search while keeping it alive as its own product. That's a smarter move than I gave them credit for.
Why the Rename Actually Makes Sense
The Gemini branding is becoming Google's umbrella for everything AI. Keeping NotebookLM as some separate mysterious name was probably confusing new users.
